Tobey Parsons salvages the lumber from more
than 100 buildings a year—sometimes getting
50,000 square feet of wood from one job—and
stashes the planks in three warehouses and a
handful of waterproof tents on 7 acres in Scappoose,
Ore. Parsons has specialized in flooring
for 15 years, but he’s spent 30 years taking
down buildings and reclaiming their wood.
